← Day Slip

First time setup

Three minutes, including the part where you can't find the icon.

1. Install

Open the DMG. Drag Day Slip into Applications. Eject the DMG. That's the whole installer.

2. Launch

Open Day Slip from Spotlight (⌘ Space, type "day slip") or from the Applications folder.

Nothing visible happens. There's no window, no Dock icon. Day Slip lives in your menu bar — the strip at the top of the screen, next to the battery and Wi-Fi.

3. Find the icon

Look at the menu bar. You should see a small checklist icon — by default red, configurable to any of ten colors.

Can't find it? If you're on a MacBook with a notch (the black bar around the camera), your menu bar might be full — and macOS silently hides extra icons behind the notch. The icon is there. You can't see it.

Fix: hold (Command) and drag any visible menu bar icon to the side. The hidden ones slide out. You'll find Day Slip among them.

Or install a free menu bar manager like Ice — it shows everything that's hidden and lets you reorder.

4. Use it

Left-click the icon — the task list opens.

Right-click the icon — settings and quit.

Default global shortcut: ⌥⌘T opens the list from any app. Change it in settings.

5. Open at login (optional)

System SettingsGeneralLogin Items & Extensions → add Day Slip under "Open at Login".

If something looks broken

The first launch from an unsigned build may trigger Gatekeeper ("Apple cannot verify…"). Right-click the app in Finder, choose Open, confirm. After once, it just opens.
